HAPPY 2010!!!!!

I know I am so so bad!! I am trying to be better and post once a month now. I need to make time to do this because I need to keep everyone more informed on what we are up to and hopefully leave a family history behind for my children since I do not scrapbook. Well, to start here is our families 2009 recap and letter to all our friends.

HAPPY 2010

I can hardly believe another year has come and gone. It has been a great year and we feel we have been greatly blessed. We as a family are trying to fit every thing that we have wanted to do into these last couple of years because Jordan only has one more year left with us before college and his mission. I remember when he was only about a month old I thought of him graduating from high school and thought it would be forever before it came. It’s right around the corner and it’s scary and exciting. I guess that means WE (Gerald and I) are getting OLD!!!!

Speaking of old, I (Kristin) did turn 40 this year and it doesn’t seem to be bothering me. I kind of like the idea, I mean what can you do about it anyway. Be positive and love who you are. Anyway, 40 is the new 30 isn’t it? I am still working for the same Dental office that I have for 16 years and I loveit. I am also staying busy with church, friends, basketball, soccer and couponing. I am a little addicted to couponing but I am putting some boundaries on it so that it doesn’t get out of control. It is a second job and I have made great friends with some of the employees at some of the stores. My family says they are my other family because some times I just go in to talk to them!!! It’s fun making friends.

Another thing that happened this year was that Gerald and I had our 20th wedding Anniversary. I can hardly believe that one is here also. We were so young and look how far we have come. It’s been a great ride with some up’s and some downs but overall a ride I would not want to take alone or with anyone else. In this day in age, I feel blessed to have a wonderful, hardworking, faithful, spiritual husband who is there for our 3 children and me.

Gerald has had a great year because he is still employed. Micron is now doing well and we hope to continue with them for many years. Gerald has not had as much time for the fun stuff because it seems like the weekends are gone before you know it. With the Sabbath Day observance, it really is only one day for fun so it’s hard to squeeze in all the things he likes to do like: Camping, motorcycle riding, skiing, etc. He is a good sport about going to work 5 days a week but is looking forward to the days in the distant future when he has more time for play and less for work!!

Jordan turned 17 and is a junior at Eagle High School. He is trying to decide what to do in his future. I think he would rather not think about it because it stresses him out. He wants to go to college to be something????? (Maybe an orthodontist, pilot, lawyer or artist) Yeah, it’s quite a variety of interests.

Jordan is a wonderful artist and is trying to decide if it’s going to be a hobby or if he wants to do it for a career. Sometimes when you try to do something you love for a job you lose the passion. Jordan was selected, as oneof three Artists from Eagle High School (and the only Junior), for the Boise State University High School Art contest. It featured amazing work by many top High School students in the area. He did not win but we are proud of his work. Jordan is still involved with sports and girls!! Pretty normal teenage boy!!

Braden is turning 14 in March and is doing some growing this year. He may be taller than Jordan soon but we will have to wait and see. He is definitely taller than his mother but that’s not too hard. He is an 8th grader at Eagle Middle School and is a great student. His teachers love him because he is a hard worker. He is preparing for High School next year (SCARRY). He is a great friend to anyone and he is good to our family. He loves to do sports and hang with friends (no girls yet, thank goodness). Braden is working on his Eagle Scout Award and should be doing his project this summer.

Paige turned 9 and is in the 3rd grade. She has her first male teacher and loves him. She says he challenges her and she is all about learning. She will be a great student because she really loves to learn. She loves to read books and write her own stories. She has a great imagination. She is growing up also. She is a great babysitter for cousins when they come to visit. She is a wonderful girl. Paige is playing the piano and will be playing volleyball this next fall.

We had many great things this year but the two that stand out the most were two big trips we took. The first was a trip to Disneyland in February. We stayed in San Diego with my brother Chad and his family. The Second was a trip to Hawaii in November. Paige is quoted as saying “ It was WAYYYYYY better than Disneyland”. Sorry, Disney but you were kind of cold and what can compare to the beaches in Hawaii.

We had such a great time. I hope to get my act together a post some amazing pictures on my blog. It is one of the best times ever because we were all together making memories that will last forever.

Our family is grateful for the knowledge that our Savior Jesus Christ lives and that God is in control and will help give us the guidance we need to keep us making right decisions. We are grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for our knowledge that we can be a family forever. We are also grateful for wonderful friends and family like you. We hope you have a wonderful new year and may God’s blessing be upon you.

The Evans family
